Absolute Stillness is an intimate psychological ballet exploring the tension between a restless inner world and the longing for peace. The work follows a woman caught in cycles of overthinking, anxiety, sleeplessness, and self-doubt. The four ensemble dancers embody the different forces within her mind. Intrusive thoughts, fears, distortions, and imagined possibilities, while the male dancer represents stillness itself, a presence that remains elusive until the final moments of the ballet.
The inspiration for this work comes from my own experiences and struggles with the relentless pace of modern life.We live in a world that constantly demands speed, productivity, and immediate results, leaving little space to pause, breathe, or process our experiences. I wanted to explore how this relentless pace can affect our inner lives, transforming invisible psychological struggles into physical, poetic movement.
Set to Movements 3–8 of Pēteris Vasks’ Distant Light, the ballet traces a journey from introspection and fragmentation toward a fragile sense of clarity, acceptance, and inner quiet.
